「Introduction」Thank you Professor Sakakibara, Members of the Japanese Society for Thoracic Surgery, the College of Chest Physicians and guests. I bring you greetings and best wishes from the President of the American Association for Thoracic Surgeons, Dr. Sweet; Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Berry and the faculty of the Harvard Medical School; the Director, Dr. Mussels and the staff of the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. It is a great honor and privilege for me to be here this morning to hear the exciting presentations of professors Urabe, Nakayama and Shinoi. It is a further privilege to be introduced by you, sir, Professor Sakakibara; to have heard your magnificent review of current cardiac surgery and your great personal triumphs, Professor Kimoto; and, to look forward with great anticipation to your comments in discussion Professor Ozawa. You are three great pioneers in Heart Surgery. I salute you all and am flattered to join such a distinguished company in today's program. Finally, I regret painfully that this address cannot be made in Japanese. |
